Using GMail

Explanation: You can set up GMail to retrieve your inbox from your goldcoastinternet hosting account. Please note: Unless you plan on only using GMail to access your E-Mail, check the box “Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server” in Step 5. Failure to do this will result in E-Mail only being delivered to your GMail account and not to any other mail clients configured to access the account.

Step 1: Gather mailserver info

Your Welcome E-Mail contains almost all the information that you need to set up your E-Mail account. Ensure that you have all of the following information available:
[A] E-Mail account (this is your full USER@DOMAIN.TLD E-Mail address)
[B] E-Mail Server address (IP, resolvable server hostname, or domain name)
E-Mail account password (what you set up when you created the mailbox)

Here is an example of the above info:
E-Mail Account: johnsmith@example.com
E-Mail Server: mail.example.com
Passsword: secret.

Step 2: Log in to GMail and access Settings

Log in to your GMail account in a web browser and go to Settings on the top of the page.

Step 3: Add POP3 E-Mail account

Click on the Accounts and Import tab near the top of the page.
Click on Add POP3 email account. A new window will open.
 

Step 4: Set E-Mail Address

In the new pop-up window that opened, enter your E-Mail address from Step 1 [A]
 

Step 5: Account Details

Use the details from Step 1 to fill out this form.
For Username use your E-Mail address from Step 1 [A]
For POP Server, use the mailserver from Step 1 [B]
Check the box for Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail (Change the port to 995 when using SSL)
If you also utilize another method of accessing your goldcoastinternet E-Mail account (such as another E-Mail client, BlackBerry, or desktop E-Mail client), select “Leave a copy of retrieved message on server”. Failure to do this will cause E-Mail to only be land in the GMail inbox and not show up in any other E-Mail client.
