iPhone/iPod Touch v3.1 Setup

Explanation: This article provides instructions on how to properly configure the iPhone/iPod Touch v3.1 Email Client for use with TLS encryption on any of our services.

Step 1: Open Mail Settings

On the Home Screen, select the “Settings” icon.


In the Settings screen select the “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” option.


When the Mail, Contacts, Calendars screen loads, select “Add Account…” under the Accounts section. This menu option should be the first option in the menu.


Step 2: Select Account Type

When the Add Account Wizard begins, it will ask for the type of account which you would like to create. Options include Microsoft Exchange, GMail and Other. Select Other.


The Other Mail options will appear. Select “Add Mail Account” underneath the Mail section.


Step 3: New Account Information

The New Account screen will appear prompting you to enter your Name, Address, Password and a Description which will be used to manage the account on your device. After you have completed the fields on this screen, select the Save button in the top right corner of the screen.


The following screen will display advanced configurations for your email account. You will need to enter the information for the Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server sections using the configurations described in your Welcome Email. Ensure that the IMAP button at the top of these configurations is highlighted.



When you have fully completed the fields on this screen, press the “Save” button in the top right corner.

Step 3b: Certificate Error

Upon clicking the Save button, you may receive an error such as the one displayed below. If you receive this error select the button which reads “Continue”.


Step 4: Enable SSL

To enable SSL on your device, navigate to the Settings for the iPod/iPhone Mail app by following the Instructions in Step 1. Instead of selecting the “Add Account…” option on the Mail, Contacts, Calendars Settings screen, instead select the email account which you just created. (The option will be directly above the “Add Account…” option. You will be displayed with the Email Account Information. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the “Advanced” option.


On the Advanced Options screen, locate the “Use SSL” option underneath the Incoming Settings section and enable “Use SSL” by dragging the On/Off switch to the On position. You will notice that the SSL port changes to 993.


Congratulations! Your iPod/iPhone device is successfully setup.
